Terms and conditions of competition

Now for the boring bit, these are the rules that set us apart from other writing competitions, they apply to both us and you.  Maybe open a bottle of wine or get a cup of tea while you read this, eh?

ALL ARTISTS AND WRITERS RETAIN RIGHTS TO THEIR WORK, by entering our competitions you grant us permission to use it as we see fit for the purpose of the book related to the competition but for no other reason. This includes editing where we see fit.  Your work remains your own.

 

All work must be your own.

Due to the experimental nature of this year's funding, the competition will only run to fulfilment if funding target is met, I've never done a kickstarter champagne  for a competition before!

Under 16s must have parental permission.

 

Entrants must NOT display the name of the writer on the work itself.  Work with the writer's name on will be disqualified and no refund will be made if you are disqualified for this reason. DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ANYWHERE ON THE WORK ITSELF.  NO!  BAD!

 

No previously published work allowed, though self published and online published is fine so long as you still have the rights to your work.

 

Prizes will be in the form of books containing the work of the winners, with top prizes being small cash amounts.

 

The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence will be entered into now or in the future.

 

Entry must be made electronically and the fee paid via Paypal. (There is no fee this yeas)

 

The prize monies will be awarded via Paypal. The receipt issued by Paypal on payment of the entry fee is your receipt of entry.

 

Only doc. files will be accepted (for written entries) and Jpegs for illustrations.  Any other formats will be disqualified. Please present your work in 12pt (or larger) Times New Roman or Arial, 1.5 or double-spaced.

The competition is open to everyone of any age, nationality or gender.

Entries for the poetry competition must take the form of poems, each poem not exceeding 30 lines.

 

Entries for the short story competition must take the form of short stories and must not exceed 1,500 words.

​

Entries for the illustration competition must not have names of the artist on the work.  You do not need to have a page number with illustrations.

​

Illustrations must be AT LEAST 300dpi

​

Entries must be the author’s own, unaided work.

​

Entries must be in English.

​
